    Costa Smeralda

A jewel of italian tourism: the perfect destination for yachts and luxury boats.

Located in the north east of Sardinia, the Costa Smeralda is a tourist destination renowned throughout the world where luxury and modernity combine with the Sardinian tradition.

The coast has numerous bays, small beaches and is a short distance from numerous islands including those of the archipelago of La Maddalena, as well as others like Cappuccini, Bisce, Li Nibani, Mortorio, Le Camere and Soffi.

Its name is a recent addition, coined in the ‘60s, when the Consorzio Costa Smeralda was formed by Prince Karim Aga Khan, the Ismaili muslim with British Citizenship, to create the destination of choice for the International jet set, with clubs like Billionaire, and the setting of films like Vacanze sulla Costa Smeralda and Vita Smeralda.

Here the breathtaking scenery between crystal clear sea, pristine coves and unspoilt beaches is combined with luxury services above all for nautical tourism.

The heart of the Costa Smeralda is Porto Cervo, the ideal destination for holidays in boat, above all in summer, when big yachts and luxury boats take advantage of the numerous berths available in this area.

The zone is serviced by the nearby airport of Olbia-Costa Smeralda. In 2012, the control of the Consorzio Costa Smeralda was passed from the society run by Tom Barrack to the Emirate of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani who manages the sovereign fund of Qatar, for the sum of €750 million. In the same year and period, there was also created a new consortium for charters.
